The Mommy Survey

So...I have a question for you readers that are also mommies...
Would You Like to Take a Survey?

I've created a list of a few questions below - and I'd love it if you could answer them. These are just some things that I have been thinking about/dealing with/have coming up - and I'd appreciate seeing other mommy experiences.

THE MOMMY SURVEY

1. Did you sleep with your baby in a bassinet/cradle/moses basket? If so, for how long?

2. Did you ever sleep with your baby in bed with you?

3. At what age did your baby start sleeping through the night?

4. Did you ever sleep with your baby in their car seat/bouncy chair because of a stuffed up nose?

5. At what age did your baby start eating more less often? (AKA the old, wake-them-up-if-it's-been-4-hours-during-the-day rule goes out the window).

6. Did your baby lose hair? When did it grow back?

7. What age did you start giving "cereal" to your baby?

8. How was your relationship with your pediatrician? Were they real laid back or more the uptight type?

9. How often were you having to get new clothes for your baby?

10. What's the best piece of advice you ever got as a mommy?

THANKS for the feedback. Just some general wonderments I've been wondering on...and while the books and things are great - and I KNOW that he's to an age now where everything is on his own time - it's still nice to hear other mommy stories!

Photo Interrupted

Yep - we headed to Sears today for D's 3 month pictures.

SIDENOTE: I have to throw in this clip from the Brady Bunch movie that I think of every time I say I'm going to Sears...

Anywho - we loaded up early and headed out to make a couple exchanges, etc. and to be able to walk around the mall a bit before picture time. Charlestowne mall is a ghost town except for the department stores - but we had a good time hitting up Kohls and Gymboree (got a cute hat & shirt for D to wear in his pictures).
My sleepy baby always falls fast asleep in the stroller - and today was no exception. When I changed and fed him before the pictures he was up - but they double-booked the time slot - so by the time they got to us - he was OUT. We tried EVERYTHING to wake him up and it wasn't happening. So, that was that. We headed back OUT of Sears - with an appointment to go back next Saturday.

Wish us luck...

Song Sung

I sing to D...a LOT. I think that's just something a lot of people do around babies.

For D it's a soother (he can't tell that I don't have a good voice). It helps him fall asleep, calms him when he's (rarely) fussy, and sometimes just makes him smile.

I try to vary the songs a little. We were on an exclusive regimen of holiday music for awhile. I try to do bath songs during tubby time (Rubber Ducky, Splish Splash, etc).

However, there's one song I sing on repeat. I sing it to him every day and usually have to go through it about 4 times a night before his eyes fade enough to go down in the bassinet. It's a song I've sung for years in the shower or to myself. I have no idea why this song stuck with me, but it did. It's from (don't laugh) Tom & Jerry The Movie. It came out in 1992, and for some reason I had the soundtrack...I think because I loved this song. Anyway - it just has a nice sound to it, D seems to like it, and it's just comes out of me frequently...so I'll stick with it. Here it is if you want to hear it...

Nicknamed Baby REVISED

So, clearly D is a nickname. You may remember the struggles we went through trying to decide what to call our little man. However, D won out and now I can't imagine him as anything else. In fact, I can't even imagine him as a "Dain" even though that's his true name...because I've gotten so used to him as D.

This doesn't mean that we don't refer to our little boy with a barrage of stupid nicknames. We do. These things always fly out of people's mouths. It's how Penny became Penzoil for a while...

Yep - I call him Squirtle alot. I guess it started with Squirt...then evolved as I'd heard the word Squirtle before. Turns out I remembered it from the summer I was a nanny and the kids watched Pokemon. Squirtle is a turtle, and I didn't know what he looked like - but he's ADORABLE and Dain even thinks they look alike! Here's a glimpse of his action-figure.

Can't Stop Eating

Man - I thought I ate a ton while I was pregnant. It explained how huge I got, even considering that I never went to full term.

However, I'm now a human garbage disposal.

I've heard from many people that they ate more while breastfeeding than they did when pregnant. I thought that was crazy...but it's TRUE! I can't stop. I don't want all the sweets now though, thank goodness.

SO feed me and I'll be your friend :)

Rated R for Nudity

We taped a good portion of D's tubby last night. We did cover him up with a washcloth so this wouldn't be a complete nudey flick.

He loves a bath. Dain gives his commentary through much of this video...



And - just about 30 seconds after filming...D pooped in the tub.

Stuck

To all that have asked for an update...here it is!

Sorry it's been so long. Being back to work is hard. Yep - I knew it would be. I'm surviving because I have to, but it's not easy. Luckily D has a great babysitter, and he's thriving there. I think he likes being around the kids there, and he seems to really like Jenni (which makes me nervous of course!).
With being at work and not getting much time with him - I find myself stuck without time to blog. I can't really do it at work, and when I get home at night all I want to do is hold my little guy and spend time with him...not leaving time for blogging, sorry!

I will be updating with photos from his baptism - which was last weekend. However that's for next time. In the meanwhile here are some photos of D that I have stuck in my mind all day at work everyday.




Also - for those of you with a working radio - you've maybe heard the new(ish) Beyonce song "Single Ladies" - which immediately gets stuck in your head. Seriously - my morning radio show hosts apologize before they play it every time. It's ALWAYS stuck in my head - I CAN'T GET RID OF IT! Seriously, stupid catchy Beyonce tunes!
Anywho - I've mentioned to a few of you that I was sent the below video from my office-mate while I was still on maternity leave and think it's the cutest thing ever. This little girl has the moves!
